The Taste and Smell Clinic is the major clinical and research facility in the US where patients with taste and smell dysfunction are evaluated and treated. It is located in a 2000 sq. ft., specially designed facility in the Palisades section of northwest Washington, D.C. The Clinic serves both as a treatment and research center. It is equipped with the latest advanced diagnostic equipment. Clinical facilities consist of a comfortable and spaciuos patient care reception area, offices for both administration and records, four treatment rooms, complete facilities for otolaryngological examinations, a nutritional evaluation and treatment room and a facility for collection of diagnostic samples. Research facilities consist of five laboratory modules for both clinical and basic research. Equipment includes a cold room, a chemical stockroom, refrigerators, freezers, a research quality water system, research and clinical centrifuges, atomic absorption spectrophotometers, both flame and flameless, pH meters, visible and UV spectrophotometer, electrophoresis equipment, macro and micro balances, facilities and equipment for measurement of enzyme activities, and computer facilities to support the research activities.
